The Perfect Gift - a rare and unusual opportunity for you to design and make your own Art Glass Paperweight.
How to design YOUR Paperweight:
- A number of enamel powders and glass chips will be available for you to choose the colours of your paperweight.
- For a very prestigious paperweight 22ct GOLD LEAF may also be applied at an additional cost*.
- Gather the molten glass from the Furnace.
- Apply the enamel colours or chips.
- You will fuse the colours into the glass at a temperature of around 1000 degrees c.
- Next you will sit in the glassmakers bench whilst the glassmaker assists with the shaping and making of your paperweight.

- When complete, your paperweight will be placed in an annealing oven to cool overnight.
- Once cooled usually within 24 hours (afternoon next day) one of our grinders will finish the paperweight by grinding, smoothing and polishing the base.
- This leaves the final process were you can return to the studio and etch your name and the date on the base giving it that final personal touch!
- If you are unable to return the next day to sign the piece please let us know on the day you make the paperweight and we will keep it safe until your next visit or we can be post it to you.

Information
Make your own Paperweight sessions can be arranged any time between 9.30am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday by prior arrangement. Total cost £75.00 (* extra £5.00). Please telephone to book.
SAFETY CONDITIONS
- All persons must be 16 years old or over
- All persons must be guided by the Glassmaker at all stages of the production.
- Flat soled, closed toe "sensible" footwear should be worn
- IOWSG will offer you the option to wear protective goggles
- Long Hair should be tied back
- Any disabilities or medical conditions should be explained at the point of booking
Although there are potential dangers in the Studio and the working temperature of the glass is approximately 1000 c our Glassmakers are highly skilled and will ensure, to the best of their ability, that there is no danger to you or any other member of the public
