A Unique Gift For Glass Lovers!
For some time now the Studio has had many requests for workshops, we are pleased to announce that the Studio has now decided to offer workshops where you, or yourself and a partner, can come and enjoy workshop sessions at the Studio to experience the art of glassmaking.
The bench work techniques included are:
Simple solids - such as paperweights, apples, mushrooms, birds
Simple blown vessels - such as pots, vases, bowls
The emphasis will be to provide you with hands-on experience.
Your day will start with the basic understanding of colour and design choice. If you have a desire to develop your own design we will of course endeavour to achieve it for you.

You will then cover the basics of hot glass making within the workshop including: gathering, shaping and forming the glass at 1050 degrees centigrade. Learning to develop hand eye co-ordination and rhythm to turn, stretch and control the molten glass. You will start making a solid formed paperweight(s), before progressing to blowing hot glass to create a simple blown vessel(s) such as a bowl, pot or vase.

Through demonstrations and the close supervision from one of our experienced glassmakers, you will quickly gain a basic understanding of the molten glass and gain confidence in being able to manipulate this amazing material.
The half day session will be 3 hours to enjoy the art of glassmaking, then we will anneal your work overnight ready for your afternoon session the following day when you will be able to also experience the cold working process. You will finish your pieces by grinding and polishing before signing them and taking your personal works of art away with you.
If you are unable to attend the second session, we can arrange another time at your convenience.

The normal cost for the half day will be £295.00 per person - two people can work together and share the experience with a discount of 50% on the second person. Costing £442.50 .
However we are running a December promotion - any workshops paid for and provisionally booked in the month of December for a later time will receive a 25% discount - costing £220.00 per person - £330.00 for two people sharing the experience. Only available until Easter 2012.
Saturdays we are only able to offer a half day cold working sessions subject to availability.
N.B - Collectors Club Members:
Only one Membership discount per booking which includes the two people sharing option.
